Bouddi photo competiton opening

Margie McFadyen - Thursday, June 13, 2013

moochinside ‘Bouddi” photographic 2013 competition and the winners are………

Well, the entries came in with much anticipation and we were overwhelmed by the quality and unique interpretations of the subject ‘Bouddi’.  We had over 30 entries with 21 hung and photographers ranging from 11 years to 89 years of age.

The response in store for the people’s choice was amazing. Everyone who came in over the 2 week period voted for their favourite photo.

Saturday evening opening drinks was a great success. The weather was kind and Killcare put on a spectacular sunset. We had at least 70 people sipping on wine purchased from our local Killcare Cellars and nibbling on crackers and beautiful cheese from the boutique Little Creek cheese factory in Wyong.  The selected photographers were excited and nervously anticipated the result. They were all so happy to show their wonderful photos to their family and friends.

It was such a positive experience for us. The people’s choice voting was a terrific option, as if it were up to me all participants would have won, they were all fabulous.

The clear winner was Sharon Finger for her entry ‘Poss’, a beautiful study of a possum peeking through a palm frond.  It was lovely to hear Sharon’s story of how she and her husband lived out on our beautiful Hardy’s Bay on a yacht in the late 1970’s, Sharon was overwhelmed to win the people’s choice.  Then came 2 clear runners up with an equal amount of votes so the prize was split between Callum Howarth for his entry ‘Heart of the Wave’, a beautiful clear crisp photo taken on a GoPro down at Killcare Beach and  Lisa Haymes for her entry ‘Angrophra Sunset’ a lovely photo of a local Angophra with another spectacular Killcare sunset shining through. Andrea Rae was the lucky winner of the voters choice.

Congratulations to everyone and we look forward to next year with the subject to be ‘Drift’.

Thinking about doing something similar for summer with a 'art on paper' exhibition. Let us know if you would be interested.

moochinside 'Bouddi' photographic competition

Margie McFadyen - Friday, May 03, 2013

As the months fly by we find it hard to drag our feet along the beach any longer, there is no denying it, we are getting into the business end of 2013!

We at mooch were feeling a little saddened by this, but then we decided to throw our bathers into the corner and put into action an exciting little plan we have been hatching for quite a while.

We like to share the joy though and now call on you (this is the fun part) to dust off your camera and start snapping, as entries are invited for

moochinside 2013 ‘Bouddi’ photographic competition

The subject of the 2013 exhibition is ‘Bouddi’, the aboriginal word for The Heart. Your photographs must have been taken between April and May 2013 with the closing date for entries being close of business on the 24th of May.

Twenty of the best photographs will be selected for the competition exhibition at moochinside Gallery from June 1 to 15. As if having your work exhibited at a reputable gallery is not incentive enough but there are prizes to be won too! 2 x $500 and 1 x $250 moochinside gift vouchers will be awarded by people’s choice selection during the week of the 1st t 8th of June.

We are very proud of our little plan, it is one that is very close to our hearts, so please pass this on. Spread the word far and wide through this land and the next! We can’t wait to see the results.
