moochinside ‘Bouddi” photographic 2013 competition and the winners are………
Well, the entries came in with much anticipation and we were overwhelmed by the quality and unique interpretations of the subject ‘Bouddi’. We had over 30 entries with 21 hung and photographers ranging from 11 years to 89 years of age.
The response in store for the people’s choice was amazing. Everyone who came in over the 2 week period voted for their favourite photo.
Saturday evening opening drinks was a great success. The weather was kind and Killcare put on a spectacular sunset. We had at least 70 people sipping on wine purchased from our local Killcare Cellars and nibbling on crackers and beautiful cheese from the boutique Little Creek cheese factory in Wyong. The selected photographers were excited and nervously anticipated the result. They were all so happy to show their wonderful photos to their family and friends.
It was such a positive experience for us. The people’s choice voting was a terrific option, as if it were up to me all participants would have won, they were all fabulous.
The clear winner was Sharon Finger for her entry ‘Poss’, a beautiful study of a possum peeking through a palm frond. It was lovely to hear Sharon’s story of how she and her husband lived out on our beautiful Hardy’s Bay on a yacht in the late 1970’s, Sharon was overwhelmed to win the people’s choice. Then came 2 clear runners up with an equal amount of votes so the prize was split between Callum Howarth for his entry ‘Heart of the Wave’, a beautiful clear crisp photo taken on a GoPro down at Killcare Beach and Lisa Haymes for her entry ‘Angrophra Sunset’ a lovely photo of a local Angophra with another spectacular Killcare sunset shining through. Andrea Rae was the lucky winner of the voters choice.
Congratulations to everyone and we look forward to next year with the subject to be ‘Drift’.
Thinking about doing something similar for summer with a 'art on paper' exhibition. Let us know if you would be interested.
